Actress Franchise League

As part of 2018s national centenary celebration of The Representation of the People Act of 1918, Street Theatre and Strode Theatre have teamed up to stage ‘Knickerbocker Glories’, a selection of one-act Suffragette comedies. These plays were written for the Actresses Franchise League, a group founded in December 1908 at the Criterion restaurant which supported the suffrage cause and included the most famous West End actresses of the Edwardian period.
Celebrating 100 years of votes for women, three short plays and a monologue originally written for the Actresses Franchise League, a suffragettes organisation. Passion, humour and 'agitprop'.
